Gülay İnce Artist

About

Born in Pazar district of Rize in 1957. Graduated from Ankara Aydınlıkevler High School in 1976. In 1996, he completed the Painting Main Art Branch at Marmara University Atatürk Faculty of Education (AEF), and in 2000, he graduated from the Painting Education Department of Marmara University Institute of Social Sciences. In 1995, he worked as an art director at Filiz Publishing House, and in 1996, he transitioned to teaching at the Ministry of National Education. In 1997, he joined Sakarya University Vocational School (MYO) as a lecturer in the Ceramics Department. From 2000 to 2023, he continued his duty as a lecturer at the Faculty of Art, Design, and Architecture, from where he retired.

In his painting works, he creates textural effects on the surface with oil on canvas and screen printing techniques. He adopts an expressive language with a composition that integrates elements of traditional culture, evolving towards abstraction in his paintings. By creating diversity within a monochrome color palette, he creates tension between drawing and color with a strong expressive line and creates a relief effect on the surface. The artist's works are found in public institutions and private collections both domestically and internationally.

In addition to his painting and installation works, he takes outdoor photographs by traveling and observing nature. The artist, who has 8 solo exhibitions; has participated in 4 international competitive exhibitions, 12 national competitive exhibitions, over 100 group painting exhibitions; has 7 competitive photography and installation participations, 45 photography exhibitions, 16 photography awards, and 1 international award, with a history of many competitive painting and photography exhibitions.
